Louisville wildlife control tip of the month:Ways to kill a mole

Moles belong to the insect family that are found underground where they spend most of their Louisville pest control lifetime but also exist on the surface during their breeding periods. They are round shaped with dark grey to black furry creatures that have hairless pink snouts, webbed feet and long claws. They mainly exist in three stages: eggs, nymphs and adults. They are omnivorous creatures that feed upon larvae, worms, small stems, insects, plant roots and grasses. Even though they mostly live underground, but they enter lawns and gardens in search of small insects and leaves to eat.

Moles can be detected in a garden by spotting a Louisville wildlife removal channel in form of a hole around 3 to 5 inches deep breaking the surface of the lawn. Even dirt volcanoes can be an indicator of moles travelling into the ground below. They lead to the destruction of plant roots leading them to brown quickly and degrading both the quality of the plants and soil.

There are still several Louisville animal trapping ways by which moles can be killed; some of them being natural and the others commercially bought. Castor oil mixed with cayenne pepper, liquid dish detergent with some Louisville animal control water can act as a mole repellent. Similarly shovels can be used to dig up a hole around the molehills and trap them inside an inverted can or a bin. Chewing gums are also considered an effective method to kill moles; once they consume it, they die out of digestive issues, although this method is not scientifically proven. Rat poison or some other insecticides that are effective in keeping away harmful insects from fruits and vegetables can also be tried to kill the moles. Some commercially available mole repellents also consists a base of castor oil mixed with water and some other chemicals, that must be sprayed around the molehills in quick intervels to stunt their breeding. Mole eliminator traps bought from market can also be used, but their sharp spears and chokers might wound the children and pets in the house. Castor oil, zinc phosphide, gas poison and poison baits rich in Bromethalin and Warfarin can also be used to get rid of the moles. Moles usually prefer moist areas for their habitat, therefore improving soil drainage can result in discouraging their growth.

Moles, apart from spoiling the soil quality and the plant roots can also transmit rabies, but their biggest Louisville exterminator threat is the fear of bringing parasites like fleas and ticks. Home remedies are suitable for small scale attack of moles, but for a larger scale, they must be effectively treated with the necessary chemicals to get rid of them. However, it becomes difficult to control moles because of their subterranean nature. The mole baits do not work sometimes as they are used to insects and worms, while gas cartridge and smoke bombs can also prove ineffective as the moles seal up their holes as soon as they smell some unknown gas or smoke. We can almost say that no repellent or baits are currently available that can reliably secure lawns and gardens from moles.
