Erie wildlife control tip of the month:How to use one-way exclusion funnels to remove opossums without trapping them

Once an opossum has entered your home they are very difficult to get rid of. There are various Erie animal control ways to try and keep an opossum out of your property. From motion activated lights and sprinklers, to predator urine that can be sprayed in your yard. However, if they have bypassed these measures, you will need another way to get rid of them.

What does it look like?
A one-way exclusion funnel is a cage that is fixed to the opening where the Erie pest control critter is gaining access. It resembles a funnel, in that it has a small opening which leads to a larger area. It is usually made of steel, which makes it impossible to claw or chew through. It has flaps on the side that are used to fasten it to the side of the building. They come in a variety of sizes, depending on the pest that you are trying to trap.

How does it work?
You need to ensure all of the Erie wildlife removal entry points are closed off. That will leave only one way to exit the building. The smaller area of the funnel is placed against the hole that the opossum is using to gain entry. You will need to devise a way in which to scare the opossum into leaving its burrow. Bright lights and loud noises are often used. Once the animal has entered the cage, a door will close it. This will keep them from exiting the funnel. You need to ensure that the mesh is small enough to contain the opossum. Once you are sure that all of the creatures have left the area you remove the cage and can dispose of the opossums.

What now?
It is important to release the opossums far away from your home or they will just come back again. Now you will need to close off all the of Erie animal trapping entry points. Make sure that it is done correctly, otherwise, it might not hold them out for long. If there are major structural issues, you might need to phone a contractor to come and assist.

Why is it the best option?
An Erie exterminator exclusion funnel is a great option because it is non-lethal. It is illegal to kill wild animals in most states. Therefore, it is important to find a way to get rid of unwelcome pests without harming them. The one-way exclusion funnel provided a safe, and effective way to get rid of opossums.
